Short answer: A driving enclosure is sized by your cart's roof length, measured front to back, and by the seating layout, not just by brand. In our listings, enclosures for 2-seat Club Car Precedent, Onward and Tempo and EZGO TXT and RXV carts state roofs of about 57–59 in. Yamaha Drive and Drive2 2-seaters are listed at 69 in, and extended 4-passenger roofs run from 80 to 94.5 in. Measure your roof and match it to the specific listing.
Sizing is the most common reason enclosures go back. Flapen, an Amazon marketplace research firm, estimates that about 68% of returns in this category are size-related. Measuring first is the simplest way to avoid one.
Measure before you order
- Roof length. Measure the roof from its front edge to its back edge, down the center line. This is the main sizing number.
- Seating layout. Count the seats under the roof. A 2-seater, a 2+2 (front seat plus a rear-facing seat under a standard roof) and a 4-passenger cart with an extended roof each need a different enclosure.
- Front and rear obstructions. Note your windshield, side mirrors, rear seat grab bar and any light bar. Several of our listings call out mirror openings or a cargo-box version.
- Modifications. Aftermarket roofs and lift kits change the fit. Measure your roof as it is now, not as it left the factory.
Why the same cart gets different numbers
Enclosure makers don't all measure or state roof length the same way. One manufacturer's chart (Formosa Covers) lists 2-seat Club Car and EZGO roofs at about 54 in, while most of the 2-seat enclosures we list for the same carts are labeled for 57–59 in roofs. Neither is necessarily wrong. Each maker cuts its panels to its own pattern and tolerance. So always compare your measurement with the size stated on the specific enclosure you are buying, not with a generic class like "standard" or "short roof."

2-seat, 2+2 or extended roof?
A 2-seat enclosure wraps the front seat only. A 2+2 enclosure covers a rear-facing seat as well, under the same standard-length roof, so the roof figure barely changes but the side and rear panels are cut differently. An extended-roof 4-passenger enclosure is for carts whose roof runs over both rows, typically 80 in and up. Ordering a 2-seat enclosure for a 2+2 cart is an easy mistake to make, because the roof measurement alone looks right.
How to choose: a quick checklist
- Measure the roof front to back and write the number down.
- Count the seats and note whether the rear seat faces backward under a standard roof.
- Pick a listing whose stated roof size is within an inch or two of your measurement.
- Check for mirror openings or a cargo-box version if your cart needs one.
- Plan for heat as well. If you will run a heater inside the enclosure, read our propane vs electric heater guide first.

Frequently asked questions
How do I measure my golf cart for an enclosure?
Measure the roof from its front edge to its back edge along the center line, count the seats under the roof, and note your windshield, mirrors and any rear seat. Compare that roof length with the size stated on the specific enclosure.
Will a 2-passenger enclosure fit a cart with a rear seat?
Usually not. A 2+2 cart has a rear-facing seat under a standard roof, and its enclosure is cut with longer side and rear panels. Buy an enclosure labeled 2+2 or 4-passenger for that roof size.
What roof size is a Yamaha Drive2 2-passenger cart?
Our Yamaha Drive and Drive2 (G29) 2-seat enclosure listings state a 69 in roof, and one enclosure maker's chart lists about 70 in. Measure your own roof to confirm.
Do Club Car Precedent, Onward and Tempo use the same enclosure?
For 2-seat carts with a standard roof, many enclosures are listed for all three, at roughly 57–58 in. Extended-roof 4-passenger versions differ more: our listings show 88 in for Onward and Tempo and 89 or 94.5 in for Precedent.
