The solenoid is the heavy relay that connects the pack to the motor. When it fails you get a click and no movement, or no click at all — one of the cheapest parts to replace on the whole cart.

Fitment and sizing. Solenoids are rated by voltage and terminal count. A 36V solenoid on a 48V pack will not last.

My golf cart clicks but won't move — is it the solenoid?

A click means the solenoid coil is energising. If the cart still does not move, the contacts inside may be burnt, or the fault is downstream at the controller or motor.

How do I choose the right solenoid?

Match pack voltage and terminal count to the original. Continuous-duty ratings matter on carts that see heavy use.
