Solenoids rated for 48-volt packs: Club Car DS, Precedent and Tempo (many supplied with the resistor Club Car's 48V assemblies use), EZGO TXT and RXV, Yamaha, and heavy-duty 400 A contactors for carts with upgraded controllers.

Match three things: pack voltage, terminal count (most are 4-terminal) and current rating. A stock cart is fine with an OEM-equivalent unit; a cart with a high-amp aftermarket controller needs a heavy-duty solenoid rated for that controller.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use a 36V solenoid on a 48V cart?

No. The coil is rated for a specific voltage, and a 36V coil on a 48V system runs hot and fails early. Buy a 48V unit, or see 36V golf cart solenoids for 36-volt carts.

Why do some Club Car solenoids come with a resistor?

Club Car 48V solenoids are commonly fitted with a resistor across the large terminals and a diode across the small ones. If your old solenoid had them, buy a version that includes them or move them over.
