12-volt solenoids for gas golf carts, where the solenoid switches the starter-generator rather than a drive motor. Coverage includes Club Car DS and Precedent gas (OEM 1013609), Yamaha G1 and G2–G22 four-strokes, and EZGO Marathon (16542-G1) with Cushman and Columbia models.

Gas carts run a separate 12V battery for starting and lights, so these are not interchangeable with the 36V and 48V solenoids on electric carts. Check the terminal count — most are 4-terminal, the early Yamaha G1 uses a 6-terminal type — and the OEM number.

Frequently asked questions

Why does a gas golf cart need a solenoid?

The starter-generator draws a heavy current while cranking. The solenoid lets the small key and pedal circuit switch that current safely.

How can I tell if the starter solenoid is bad?

If you hear a click with the pedal down but the starter-generator does not turn, and the 12V battery is charged, the solenoid contacts are a likely cause. No click can point to the coil, the key switch or a micro switch.
