Front wheel hubs carry the bearings that let the wheel turn, and they are a wear item on any cart that has covered real mileage. A hub that has started to rumble or has play at the 12-and-6 position is on borrowed time. Yamaha's golf cart line runs G1 through G22, then the Drive (G29) and Drive2.

Fitment and sizing. Yamaha serial plates are under the seat or on the frame near the driver-side front. G14/G16/G19/G22 share many drivetrain parts; Drive and Drive2 do not. Hub assemblies are sold per side or in pairs and are model-specific. Replace both sides — they have done the same hours.

Frequently asked questions

How do I know a golf cart wheel hub is worn?

Jack the wheel, grip it at 12 and 6 o'clock and rock it. Any play means the bearing or hub is worn. A rumble that changes with speed is the other sign.

Is the Yamaha Drive the same as a G29?

Yes — Yamaha marketed the G29 as the Drive from 2007. Drive2 arrived in 2017 with a revised body, so body panels and enclosures are not interchangeable.
