The solenoid is the heavy relay that connects the pack to the motor. When it fails you get a click and no movement, or no click at all — one of the cheapest parts to replace on the whole cart. Club Car has used several very different chassis over the years, so the single most useful thing you can do before ordering is identify your model and year.

Fitment and sizing. Serial number plate sits under the passenger-side dash or on the frame behind the driver-side rear wheel. The first two characters tell you the model year. Solenoids are rated by voltage and terminal count. A 36V solenoid on a 48V pack will not last.

Frequently asked questions

My golf cart clicks but won't move — is it the solenoid?

A click means the solenoid coil is energising. If the cart still does not move, the contacts inside may be burnt, or the fault is downstream at the controller or motor.

How do I tell a Club Car DS from a Precedent?

The DS has a squared-off body with a separate front bumper and exposed hardware. The Precedent has a smooth, rounded front cowl and integrated bumper. Parts are rarely interchangeable between the two.
