The controller is the box between the throttle and the motor. Replacing a failed one restores normal drive; upgrading amperage is how owners get more torque out of an otherwise stock cart. Club Car has used several very different chassis over the years, so the single most useful thing you can do before ordering is identify your model and year.

Fitment and sizing. Serial number plate sits under the passenger-side dash or on the frame behind the driver-side rear wheel. The first two characters tell you the model year. Controller choice must match motor type and pack voltage. Higher-amp controllers put more load on cables, solenoid and motor.

Frequently asked questions

What are the signs of a failing golf cart controller?

Jerky acceleration, a cart that runs only at full speed or not at all, or a controller that gets very hot. Fault codes on IQ and Precision Drive systems help narrow it down.

How do I tell a Club Car DS from a Precedent?

The DS has a squared-off body with a separate front bumper and exposed hardware. The Precedent has a smooth, rounded front cowl and integrated bumper. Parts are rarely interchangeable between the two.
