Rear axle bearings and seals are the classic cart maintenance item. A leaking seal contaminates the brake shoes, so the two jobs almost always come together. Club Car has used several very different chassis over the years, so the single most useful thing you can do before ordering is identify your model and year.

Fitment and sizing. Serial number plate sits under the passenger-side dash or on the frame behind the driver-side rear wheel. The first two characters tell you the model year. Bearings and seals are sold in axle-side sets. Replace both sides at once — if one has failed the other is the same age.

Frequently asked questions

Why is my golf cart leaking oil near the rear wheel?

Almost always a failed axle seal. Left alone, gear oil reaches the brake shoes and they need replacing too.

How do I tell a Club Car DS from a Precedent?

The DS has a squared-off body with a separate front bumper and exposed hardware. The Precedent has a smooth, rounded front cowl and integrated bumper. Parts are rarely interchangeable between the two.
